Through the Programmatic Safe Harbor Agreement for ocelot reintroduction, ocelots will be reintroduced on suitable habitat found within the East Foundation’s San Antonio Viejo Ranch in Jim Hogg and Starr Counties. In exchange for implementing the conservation actions in the agreement, the East Foundation and other participating property owners receive formal assurances that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will not require any additional or different land management activities by the participants. This Agreement was approved March 19, 2024.
The purpose of this Agreement is to outline conservation actions that the East Foundation and other Participating Landowners will implement on their enrolled properties for the ocelot (Leopardus pardalis). The goal of the Agreement is to provide a net conservation benefit to the recovery of this species.
